Malaysia truly Asia as the saying goes, is the melting pot of culture, cuisine and one of the main business hubs in Asia. This destination is eclectic in every sense of the word yet maintaining its authentic traditions and religious ties.

Whilst winners can feel the vibrancy and rush of Kuala Lumpur, they will also have the chance to kick back and relax on the beautiful island of Langkawi. With South Africa’s heritage and food strongly influenced by the Malays, we believe this destination will make the winners feel right at home as they adventure their way through this tropical Asian paradise.

A skyline punctuated by minarets, Mogul-style domes and skyscrapers; colorful, food-stall-lined streets shaded by a leafy canopy of banyan trees – this is Kuala Lumpur, This vibrant bustling city is a melting pot of cultures, races and cuisines as Indians, Chinese, Malay and Europeans mix together.

Langkawi is coined from the Malay words Lang and Kawi. Lang is a brown eagle and Kawi is a local manganese stone. The ancient fishermen must have seen eagles flying clutching the manganese stones! A giant monument of a brown eagle clutching the manganese stone greets all visitors to Langkawi near the Kuah Jetty. The main tourist attractions of Langkawi Island is its virgin white sandy beaches. The beaches have very gentle continental slope and the water is crystal clear.

Malaysia has a tropical, humid climate with temperatures averaging 86F (30C), though it is cooler in the highland areas. The major change in seasons is marked by the arrival of the monsoons that bring heavy downpours on the east coast of Peninsula Malaysia, the northeastern part of Sabah and the western end of Sarawak (from November to February). Boat trips to the islands do not run during the height of the monsoon. The best time to visit Malaysia is between April and October.
